Maple syrup-like smell back in New York

The sickly sweet smell of a maple syrup-like substance was back in New York last evening. Just like when in 2005 when a maple syrup smell blanketed much of Manhattan.

The smell, which has made return visits in early December 2005 a January, March and November of 2006, leading people to think this is related to the cold weather.

I remember it well

I could smell it here on the Jersey side of the Hudson River. They never did nail down an exact cause of it. Made me hungry for pancakes. I didn't notice it yesterday or today... this is the first I'd heard of its return.
