Marble Collegiate Church in New York - A Marble Christmas

Marble Collegiate Church in New York is one of the city's grandest old churches. Located at 29th Street and 5th Avenue, it has had many famous people as members over the years... yet it has also been welcoming to the majority of everyday people who attend services there.

But the most well-known person associated with Marble Collegiate Church was not a worshipper but a minister: Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. Peale, who was one of the leading religious figures of the 20th century and the author of The Power of Positive Thinking and many other books, was pastor at Marble Collegiate Church for 52 years, beginning in the mid-1930s.

Marble Collegiate Church is the oldest continuous Protestant congregation in the United States, having been founded in 1628.

On Christmas Eve, 2007 CBS TV presented a special program of Christmas music from Marble Collegiate Church, entitled “A Marble Church Christmas,” which featured the Marble Collegiate Church choir.
