Maryland – 26 Colleges Offer a Wealth of Educational Options in the Oyster State

Maryland is a state that takes education seriously. The proof is in the 26 colleges and universities spread out through the state, with an important concentration in and around Baltimore.

Here is the list of the 26 to give you an idea about the wealth of options available to the “Oyster State” students:

1. Baltimore Hebrew University

2. Baltimore International College

3. Bowie State University

4. College of Notre Dame of Maryland

5. Coppin State University

6. Frostburg State University

7. Goucher College

8. Hood College

9. Johns Hopkins University

10. Loyola College in Maryland

11. Maryland Institute College of Art

12. McDaniel College

13. Morgan State University

14. Mount Saint Mary's College and Seminary

15. Peabody Institute

16. St. John's College

17. St. Mary's College of Maryland

21. University of Baltimore

22. University of Maryland, Baltimore County

23. University of Maryland, College Park

24. University of Maryland, Eastern Shore

25. Villa Julie College

26. Washington College in Chestertown

Probably the best known among them are the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD (Number 1 in the world in medicine and bioengineering), University of Maryland College Park Campus, and U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis.

The most distant-from-center schools are Frostburg State University in West Maryland and University of Maryland, Eastern Shore in south-eastern corner of the State.

Probably the smallest of them all is the Baltimore Hebrew University which had only 36 undergraduate students in 2005. The largest high-education institution in terms of undergraduate enrollment is University of Maryland, College Park with over 25,000 undergraduates.
