McCain Choosing Palin An Insult To The Intelligence Of Women
McCain Choosing Palin An Insult To The Intelligence Of Women
Well there's a woman on the ticket! Just not the ticket we thought.
Today John McCain chose Sarah Palin as his VP running mate in the upcoming Presidential election. Interesting choice, don't you think?
Sarah Palin, the Governor of the state of Alaska, is everything Barack Obama has been criticized for being. So why this choice?
It's quite obvious. The Republican Party feels that they can now tap into the Hillary Clinton would-have-been voters. They believe that a majority of these Hillary voters only voted for her because she's a woman. Let's see, what century is this?
Not to mention the fact that he chose someone from a state with 3 electoral votes! McCain isn't even trying to hide his way of thinking here. He could've at least tried to hide behind a female Senator or Governor from a key swing state.
Not being a woman, not being black, I guess my only choice is...that other white guy...Ralph Nader?
Do Republicans really believe that women are voting based on this mentality? What else could this choice mean? By choosing Palin, McCain lost a chunk of his attacking rights. He can no longer jab at Obama for his lack of experience. Wasn't that a huge point in his favor?
Good move McCain!

John McCain is an insult to women
John McCain has been an insult to women ever since he was a naval aviator training at Pensacola. If he was going to try and court women with any choice he made, it is too late now. While I find his choice interesting given the circumstances, having Palin on the ticket with his age and medical conditions will ensure that a woman will become president sooner rather than later.
DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?
McCain has just killed his chances to be prez
Stupid and patronizing move on his part. Palin is a young, vastly inexperienced mother of five, one just born this past April with Down syndrome, who clearly has heavy family responsibilities that would get in the way of her duties as Vice President (and maybe even as President if McCain self-destructs). She has absolutely nothing in common with Hillary except gender.
I believe it is a brilliant choice
Picking a woman and on top, one who has not been involved in any controversial political issues is an excellent choice. It was a surprise, even to me, but a very pleasant one. She is definitely adding weight to the Republican candidacy.
Obama chose a VP candidate in a clear sign of admission that he is immature and inexperienced to run the White House.
McCain chose a VP candidate who will energize the country and will make emphasis on the values and virtues of family and marriage.

One
She has gotten herself into some conversary on the firing of her ex-brother in-law that looks like it might get a little nasty.
Let's hope so
I'm not exactly just overwhelmed by Obama, but we certainly can't take another 4 years with a Pub in the White house.
It's amazing that politics has become so blatantly obvious. While I'll be the first to admit there is no shortage of stupid voters in the U.S., I think McCain has seriously underestimated the percentage of Americans who are smart enough to see through this insult to their intelligence.

Entitled To Your Opinion
You're entitled to your opinion Imorovan. Many articles have already been written supporting my argument though (ie a post by Mandalorian). You have to admit you have lost a bargaining chip now. Obama's "inexperience" can no longer be an issue.
She Had Her Ex Brother In Law Fired (?)
I believe that's the story...she used her power to get him fired...allegedly.
mrbronco, let's not forget that Obama goes against McCain
not against the VP candidate. We are electing a President, not a vice President, and the matter of experience is clearly balanced toward McCain. Fortunate or not, it is reality.

Obama vs. McCain
lmorovan, you're forgetting that, at age 72, McCain would be the oldest president to take office. Therefore the issue of who his "back-up" is takes on greater importance than it would with any candidate since Reagan.
I Disagree
It's hardly Obama vs McCain. If it was, the choice of VP would not be such a big headline. Also why have a VP debate then?
This is directed toward Imorovan by the way.
mrbronco, I understand and agree to a point
Yet, it will be the President that will sit in the White House. and making a bigger than reasonable issue about the age is not wise. If elected, McCain may or may not last the four years. But that is not a guarantee either way, so the point would tend to become moot.
On the other hand, I have a hunch that Palin would do a better job as interim or permanent President than Biden.

Only One Will Win
So we shall see what happens. It should be an interesting election no matter what.
LOL, Elmor! You're so predictable.
First of all, my dear Jesus freak, she HAS been involved in controversial political issues (being pro-oil drilling, not wanting polar bears to be listed as endangered, not to mention that messy political business with her brother-in-law, e.g.).
So you're saying that unlike Obama (who has quite a bit more experience when compared to hers), she's mature and experienced enough to run the White House, should she become president, which is highly likely if the elderly, not-too-healthy-mentally-or-physically McCain is elected? McCain chose her in a clear sign of admission that he is too old and demented to actually run the White House and he thinks, mistakenly, that this move makes him look like a feminist and it will seduce die-hard Hillary fans into voting for him. Good luck with that one.
This woman has FIVE kids, and her newest has mental impairments (and she knew it before the birth!). Where are her family values if she's willing to abandon those kids, one with special needs, to some nanny to care for while she pursues her own ambitions? It's so typical of a right winger: have the kid no matter what, because, after all, abortion is "evil", but it's pretty much on its own once it's born because Mommy has better things to do.
Even though I'm a Kucinich fan, I am happy to see that McCain has royally blown the election with this bizarre Palin pick, and that Obama/Biden will prevail.
Your opinion. Noted.

McCain's Age
With McCain's advanced age, his VP matter more than most. If something were to happen to him, this extremely inexperienced choice would be president. Yikes.

And don't miss the priceless comment from the creationist who apparently believes that a Chevrolete (sic) has genes. Toooo funny!
I briefly considered moving to Alaska about 20 years ago after my husband and I took what turned out to be an extremely adventurous driving tour of the state and almost didn't make it back, but two things kept me from going through with it: the dark, dreary winters and the weird, funky politics. Nowadays, as an animal advocate, I'd add to that list the mean, nasty Iditarod. In Alaska, you're considered liberal if your political views fall slightly to the left of Attila the Hun(ter). Beautiful place, but bizarro.
