Medaling Moms: The Mothers of Abinhav Bindra and Other Olympians

Behind every great Olympic athlete is... well, probably a great mom. This article provides of snapshot of several mothers of Olympians who have become well known in their own right. Among them are Debbie Phelps (mother of Michael Phelps) and Babli Bindra, mother of rifle shooter Abinhav Bindra, who won India's first-ever individual gold medal.

India

I've always been interested in learning about different countries and cultures. Since there are a number of Indians here on Xomba I've become interested in learning more about India, and read articles about the country when I come across them. And I figure the Indian xombies might be interested in reading stories about their country from a foreign perspective. I hope Mr. Bindra can stay single as long as he chooses to, without further meddling from the medaling mom!

Medaling and meddling moms test their mettle

Yeah, I think the article's writer was going for the play on words there, using 'medaling' when most people would think of a mom as 'meddling.'

Behind every successful man

is a woman. Ha Ha Couldn't resist that either!:-))

I love it when a Non Indian

writes about India or stories related to India and so far I have seen only you writing about India here on Xomba. It feels really good to know that Indian news and events are being followed. Great story here about the mothers. Wonder if a more appropriate title should have been "meddling" mothers? Just a jest. Couldn't resist it!:-)) Do you know, Abhinav's mother is after him to get married and has stated on TV (in an interview) that she is searching for an appropriate bride for him! Abhinav says, he is in no hurry to get married now, till he meets someone he likes. Wonder who will win, Mother or son?
