Meditation: You can benefit from this simple technique

Ever wish that you could step outside the stress of daily life and find calm? But if you thought meditation required years of training in a monastery, think again. At its simplest, it’s about focusing the mind on physical sensation at that moment. Start with ten minutes a day.

1. Wearing loose clothes, find somewhere quiet and sit comfortably. The classic posture is with crossed legs, on a cushion that tilts the pelvis forward. But you can sit in a chair as long as your spine is straight.
2. Concentrate on your breath, without forcing it. When you breathe in be aware of breathing in. when you breathe out, be aware of that. If your mind wanders draw it back.
3. Become aware of your toes, then your feet, then your claves and so on. Work through the whole of your body.
This focus is quite q discipline, but in time your mind should become calmer even when not mediating, and your happiness less dependent on the ebb and flow of external circumstances.
