Even though evacuation was mandatory

it seems like a lot of people tried to ride out the storm (news sources). It reminds me of the guy who refused to leave his home on Mt St Helens after geologists tried to tell him a blast was imminent...he wasn't so lucky. I seriously would evacuate. I don't understand staying behind and taking a chance. Don't we have a responsibility to protect our life when given the opportunity?
