Megan Meier Committed Suicide over Myspace Prank
posted November 15, 2007 - 5:18amThousands of people have responded with outrage after the story of Megan Meier's suicide broke. Megan Meier was the 13 year old teenager who committed suicide after an online Myspace breakup with a fictitious character named Josh.
Some parents have insisted their own children read the tragic story of Megan's death. Here it is once again for those few who aren't aware.
Megan became interested in a fictitious online character named Josh Evans. Megan Meier had a history of depression and always had struggled with her weight. After meeting Josh on MySpace, Megan reportedly was the happiest she had ever been.
Josh then started becomming mean to her. Megan couldn't handle it and ended her life. The story just begins at Megan's death.
Six weeks after she died her parents discovered that Josh was created by a neighbor down the block. The neighbor was an adult woman whose daughter had once been Megan's friend. This woman knew of Megan's depression.
According to a police report, the woman stated that she created the account to spy on Megan. She wanted to see what Megan was saying about her daughter. It appeared to be a group effort. The woman, her daughter and an 18 year old employee kept tabs on the Josh Evans account.
The story on Megan Meier is just beginning to be heard. But, it hasn't ended here. The only charges are against Megan's parents, filed by the woman who concocted the Josh Evans account! WHAT, you say.
Here's why:
Megan’s parents destroyed a foosball table they had been storing for the woman who created the Josh account, after hearing of the woman's involvement. A parent has lost her child for no real reason other than someone else's poor self esteem. That person, intentionally or not, killed a young girl. Instead of showing remorse she files a complaint over a foosball table?
