Mighty Muggs | Vinyl Art Meets Mainstream Toy

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away....

All of the Star Wars toys you could buy at your local big box retail store (aka Wal-mart and Target) were simple 3.75" action figures.  The have a few plastic accessories and a few movable joints but all things considered these were the standard bearers of movie tie-in toys for 30 years.

Now a new kind of toy is on the store shelves that blurs the line between toy and art.  They are called Mighty Muggs.  These are slightly under six inches and made of vinyl.  Most importantly they are adorable.  I mean just look at Lando:

Is that not the cutest thing you have ever seen?  Ok so they don't have chopping action or an huge plastic gun to go with them but you may not be embarrased to display them on one of your shelves.  The Star Wars line of Mighty Muggs is by far the largest but they are also available in the other major Hasbor properties including: Indiana Jones, Transformers, GI Joe and Marvel Comics.

Here are a few more of my favorites:

Galactus:

Hulk:

Mola Ram (aka Heart Pulling Through Chest Guy From Temple of Doom):

I'm glad that you are focusing on toy collecting and good work on the article. Not a big fan of the mighy muggs myself, but they do have a certain cuteness to them.

They are cute and different..

Did not know they existed.  Thanks for sharing.
