Mind Enhancing Foods

CARBOHYDRATES
The principle source of the body’s energy is carbohydrates which are divided into two types.

Type one – the simple carbohydrates
Simple carbohydrates are found in fructose, lactose and sucrose. (Fruit, milk, and sugar). Simple carbohydrates triggers the over secretion of insulin by isles of langerhans which results in flow if energy from the sugar followed by lethargy and very large flow of insulin.

Type two – the complex carbohydrates
Complex carbohydrates are found in vegetable and whole grain, but the process takes longer to break down complex carbs and release the sugar into the bloodstream.

Foods should be eaten fresh and natural and unrefined. You should avoid snacks, junk food, and canned food.
Recommended are; vegetables, whole grain foods, and fruits.

What does the carbohydrate actually do for the brain? The carbohydrates help to relax the brain. The relaxation process is necessary for good mental functioning. The carbohydrates acts like a antidepressant and help people who can’t come down, always thinking. It also helps to relax and give some time for the brain to rest. You don’t want to be overheated, trust me. The more time you will give you brain to relax and help it relax the better it will function.

The only people who from food do not get linked to any desieases are the carbohydrate cravers. These are the kind of people for whom the carbohydrates helps to keep alertness and be focused. The simple sugars like; brown sugar, honey, and table sugars have to nutritional values, but calories. This sugars can lead to hypoglycemia, diabetes, and obesity.

Daily Dosage – 1200 to 1600 kilocalories per day or 300g to 400g per day of carbohydrates.
65%  of colories eaten a day should be carbohydrates. 55% from complex carbs and starches and 10% natural sugars (fruit).

Hello Kate,

First I would like to thank you for commenting. sorry about the spelling, becaus esomethings I type fast and don't see the mistake.

There are different types of carb like I have said in my article. The difference is the foods and the reactions. For example fruits (the sugars) Have you noticed how kids are always hyper when they eat sweets. It's hard for them to go to sleep. Now, compare the fruits to pasta for example. You'll feed the kids pasta and they would fall a sleep right away. You know what I mean.

There are different two type of carbs. With me It's the same. If I will eat, (pasta, rise, bread) the compex carbs, it makes me want to sleep. But the simple carbohydrates make me more alert and awaken.

Here are more links about carbohydrates :

Opinion or fact?

Do you happen to have links or suggestions for reading more about carbohydrates?

Sorry about the subject.  I'm in psychology school and everything has to be peer reviewed and validated with empirical data.

I do need to improve my brain but if complex carbohydrates relax the brain, and I know they make me sleepy, how does that help you to think better?  It helps you to sleep better, for sure!  I thought they were more for active energy, not mental energy.

Kate  :-)

p.s. please check your spelling.

Warmest regards and best intentions,

Kate
