Minimum wages and waitresses

Minimum wages and waitresses

Minimum wages should be applied to all waitresses and bar staff. There is no good reason why they should be any different to the rest of us. I have seen girls coming home with four hundred dollars for a weekends work. You go to a bar and buy around of drinks maybe ten dollars and then you feel the need to give the server a buck or two just for doing their job?

Ask any sever would they like a minimum wage and they will say no. Cause they make so much on tips. And yet the poor guy at walmart will have to push your cart out in the rain or load your shopping into your car for eight dollars an hour? Come on how many people tip at walmart or mcdonalds? But yet we feel the need to tip a bartender for serving us drinks? And most of the time they expect it.

waitress tips

Here's the thing. Last week my gf and I were feeling a bit hungry. We went into a bistro, nothing fancy. Infact the place had plastic table cloths. A green side salad, 2 beef sandwhiches, and a diet coke. Thirty five dollars, then a five dollar tip on top? The owners are charging plenty and then we give the server money for what? They are just doing their job. The whole thing is so messed up.

And most of the time, the

And most of the time, the service sucks. You bring up an interesting point. It is their job to serve you, so why is their pay different than any other job? And who was it that set up the tipping percentages? Who says I should tip 15% of my bill? Why can't the restaraunt just pay the servers more and raise the price of the menu items? It would eliminate many people's need for a calculator and would ensure that servers aren't stiffed by those too cheap to leave an adequate tip. Who is Publius? What is Rational Liberty?
