Miss Indiana Katie Stam Wins Miss America 2009 Title With No Bob Cut!
posted January 25, 2009 - 12:03pmMiss America 2009 was held last night at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada and the winner was Miss Indiana, Katie Stam. What was refreshing about this girl was that she was pretty. She didn’t have that typical Miss America hairdo that, to me, is repulsive.
Since there is no good TV on Saturday night anymore, I decided to watch this contest. I got out my scorepad and picked the ones who were most attractive. I noticed quite a few odd faces. Some had one eyebrow higher than the other, some had noses that were very strange. Most had that ridiculous “bob” cut. Yuk. Does America find this appealing on a woman? I don’t get it. Anyway, the top 15 were announced, with the first 4 being choices of the public. Yes, we the people got a say in this for a change. The Top 15 were South Dakota, Georgia, Indiana, Alabama, Michigan, Delaware, Arkansas (the most beautiful of all of them), Hawaii, D of C, Iowa, New York, California, Florida, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
At this point, the swimsuit competition was held. Three girls would be eliminated at this point and the 3 unlucky girls were South Dakota (amazon), Alabama (woof), and Delaware. I think they could’ve done the evening gown too at this point and maybe cut it to 10. How terrible to know you were in the bottom 3 of this group! Anyway, on to the evening gown competition. Only 10 would survive this part and they announce it in a very strange way. The girls have to be ready to perform their talent and, if they are called, they get to perform. This time the 2 losers were Kentucky and Arkansas. I was disappointed. Miss Arkansas had this beautiful long black hair and a hot gown. Apparently she was too “Miss USA” for the judges’ tastes? The Miss America image would be ruined with this hot girl.
The Miss America contestants give a new meaning to the word “talent”. This part was the biggest joke. I swear I could’ve done half of these acts. Hawaii did some Tahitian dance that I think anyone with some rhythm could have done. Florida danced around in some stupid outfit. New York couldn’t sing. California, Tennessee, and Indiana were the only ones who showed a glimpse of the word TALENT.
Then it’s time for the final question. Only 7 names will be called and, again, be ready to answer the question, even though your name might not be called! The final 7 girls chosen were New York (bob cut, no talent), California (bob cut, some talent), Georgia (not bad, pretty hair, sang ok), Tennessee (not too pretty but can sing!), Indiana (beautiful, sang well, gorgeous hair), Iowa (her hidden talent was that she can speak backwards…wow, impressive….loser), and Florida (bob cut, joke of a dancer).
Having already chosen Indiana in my head since Arkansas was already tossed out, I was pleasantly surprised that she actually won. 1st Runner Up was Georgia, 2nd Runner Up was Iowa, 3rd Runner Up was New York, and 4th Runner Up was Florida.
On another note, did anyone else notice? Miss America 2008, Kirsten Haglund was hot when she won. Now? They bring her back to give up her crown and she also gave up her beautiful hair. What did she have? The dreaded BOB! Let my nightmares begin.
