Hungary takes the cheesecake for holding a beauty pageant for women who have undergone the plastic surgeon’s knife to gain or enhance their beauty and can prove it. Proof is an entry requirement. Mere injections of collagen or Botox don’t cut the mustard. Just bona fide surgery qualifies a contestant. The most beautiful surgically-enhanced woman becomes pageant queen. Not only does she win a prize but so does her plastic surgeon. And so do the runners-up and their surgeons.

Reka Urban is the first to become Miss Plastic Hungary. In a country where plastic surgeons have a bad rap and plastic surgery itself is viewed with distrust, this is a triumph. Ms. Urban is indeed beautiful. And she exhibits ‘perfect harmony of body and soul’. Well, maybe— we’ll have to take the judges’ words for that because the contest of pulchritude focused mainly on the body. It makes you want to be a Hungarian resident, doesn’t it?
