In a star studded ceremony full of glitter and glamour, Miss Venezuela, Dayana Mendoza was crowned the Miss Universe 2008.

Miss Columbia was the first Runner Up.

The show was hosted by Jerry Springer and Melanie Brown.

Tripping and falling down seems to be becoming a habit with the Miss USAs. For the second time in a row, Miss USA, this time Crystle Stewart tripped over her evening and fell down as she made her entrance during the evening gown round. She got up, just a wee bit embarrased and clapped, then got on with the show.

Last Year, the Miss USA, Rachel Smith also fell down during the evening gown competition.
