This evening the Associated Press released breaking news that two missing boys, Ben Ownby-missing for four days and Shawn Hornbeck-missing for four years, were found together in the home of (alleged) kidnapper, Michael Devlin.

The (alleged) kidnapper, Michael Devlin is currently being held on one million dollars bond pending arraingment.

I have to say that if this story turns out to be one of abuse, both physical and sexual then I say lock this guy up and never let him out!

In yet another bizarre twist to the sickness of the world, two women, acting independently of each other were arrested on charges of prostition for pimping out two underaged girls on craigslist.com. Craigslist is a web marketing page for all kinds of ads including job listings. It is very popular on the web and I use it myself from time to time.

The two women used code words to pimp these two girls, ages 14 and 16. They were caught when they responded to inquiries for a meeting by undercover officers.

I am continually disgusted by pedophiles and sex offenders because there is no need for them to ever get the chance to harm a child more than once. Once is too much! However, these lawmakers of ours need to wake up! Sex offenders and pedophiles cannot EVER be rehabilitated. It is a sickness for which there is no cure. Like alcoholics, the temptation and the desire to give in to that temptation never goes away. Once released, they are tempted right back into their sick behavior and someone's child will pay the price for a parole board's optimism! Show me ONE pedophile that can honestly say he/she is rehabilitated and they can be trusted to be around children again! One!

I say let the punishment fit the crime. One strike and you're outta here! Hardened criminals have a strong dislike towards sex offenders and especially pedophiles. I say a life sentence on the first conviction and put that son of a you know what in general population where they can experience, for the rest of their lives, exactly the kind of horror they visited on an innocent child! And please don't try to preach to me about the criminal's rights. Your cry will fall on deaf ears. I am of a mind that once you violate and take away the rights of an innocent, then you have subsequently forfeited your own rights.

Laws need to be amended. Sentences for sex crimes should be severe for rapist and pedophiles, no less than life!

I invite everyone to read both stories and then weigh in on the matter. All ideas welcome and solutions are especially anticipated. Let's hear it people! What can we do to get the ear of the body of lawmakers?

01/18/2007 - Alleged Kidnapper Michael Devlin was arraigned today via close circuit television. He plead Not Guilty to charges of kidnapping 11 year old Ben Ownby. The next hearing date was set for March 15th, 2007.

Following interviews with both families at separate times (due to ongoing separate cases being built against the defense), Oprah Winfrey announced that this year, she would do whatever it takes to bring about change in the laws concerning child abuse, sexual assualt and any violent crime against children and women. She and a guest FBI profiler, who himself had been abducted as a child, loudly proclaimed that the law should be "One Strike" and your out! I stated this very same sentiment above before this show aired and I will re-iterate that NO pedophile, rapist or abuser, once convicted as such, should be allowed a second opportunity to hurt another innocent human being.
