Welcome everyone,

Just a little precaution to those of you under the legal drinking age, I'm not here to babysit you, nor do I contribute to the delinquency of minors. I am not your parental unit either so you drink at your own risk. If you are drinking, all I ask is that you do it all in moderation and be a responsible human being. Alcohol can be a wonderful beverage, nectar of the gods if you will, but it must be respected.

For those of you who are genuinely interested in knowing exactly what goes into those Red Headed Sluts or Long Island Ice Teas... follow me to the bar. You're in for a treat.

This list is by no means complete, but I may add to it in the future. As mixology evolves and people continue to mix and experiment with different liquors and flavors, the list of drinks is virtually endless. I encourage all fellow bartenders to be creative, enthusiastic and inventive when concocting yummy drinks. I also encourage feedback on variations and different names drinks may have from all around the world. I'll gladly amend these recipes to include all other names they've been called from all regions.

Are you ready? Are you excited? Okay okay, me too! But first, I'd just like to add a bit of my story as to why I'm making this list of shots and alcoholic recipes.

For starters, although I've only personally been drunk once in my entire life (32yrs), I absolutely hated the feeling. I tend to get really silly when I've drank too much, which I guess is a good thing considering many people get violent. So there I was, stumbling around the cow pasture with my good buddy (we were only 18yrs old at the time), I was so far gone, constantly peeing and throwing up, laughing uncontrollably... that was the worst of it, not being in control of my own body. I'd stumbled and fallen and couldn't find my legs or stand up again. I literally crawled to my buddys' bathroom and laid out on the bathroom floor. Typical teenage drunk. I real sad sight to be sure.

Anyway, a couple years later I landed a job at a local package store and loved the atmosphere. Drunk or not, most folks are pretty jovial and fun to be around, and when they'd come in to buy more, the stories were always entertaining.

There was always one thing that nagged at the edges of my brain though... People would come up to me quite often and ask what type of beer I drank or what I recommended. Since I was still under the legal drinking age, I didn't have a whole lot of experience with beer, alcohol or wine. So I've made it my mission... sample each different type of beer and alcohol so that I can tell others from my own personal account as to what tastes good and what doesn't.

Back in 2001, I became really interested in becoming a bartender and even decided to enroll in a local bartending school to learn how to mix and pour properly. I enjoyed it so much, but shortly after completing the course I got into a bad car accident and it kinda killed my ambitions. I'm alright, I escaped all major personal injury, but just didn't have much fight left in me for a long time, so I never pursued a career in bartending. At least not until I was approached recently by a friend of mine who is working on reopening a local bar under the management of a friend of his. I'm very excited about this opportunity to mix and work with the public and can't wait for our spring open here in Torrington, CT.!

So what do I like? That's a good question. Well, there's still a whole lot of brands and types of alcohol and beer and wine I haven't sampled yet, but I can tell you this much...
I'm not much of a fan for wines at all. Weber, Black Tower or just a cheap bottle of Boone's Farm is all I require to keep me happy. Nothing fancy. When it comes to vodka, I despise Dubra, Majorska and Skye. Smirnoff or Absolut are nice, I don't need any of that overpriced high shelf stuff like Ketel One or Grey Goose. I've always enjoyed Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum, but Captain Morgan's Silver is even better in my opinion. I'm not a fan of Bacardi at all. I also don't really care for whiskey or scotch either. Tanqueray Gin is nice.

When it comes to beer my motto is, "If it doesn't look like motor oil, chances are I won't drink it." Newcastle Brown Ale is my favorite, although I do enjoy several types of Sam Adams, J.W. Dundee's Honey Brown Ale, Fat Angel and Warsteiner. Heavier brown ales like Guinness and Bass are a bit too much for me. So there you have it, I've picked my poison, now it's time to mix some up for you! Now where'd I put my shaker?...
