Money Making Tips from Xomba

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to share with you guys a comment I posted on someone's Xombyte today and thought you all might benefit from reading it.

You'll find it below. We also upped the word count on Xombytes to 100 words and make sure you check out this post www.xomba.com/xomba_bullies_and_referral_issues

I hope you find these tips/ideas useful!

Usually, it takes about 2-3 months before you really get into a groove if you are new to this whole writing online for money thing.

First, don't depend on this as a daily income.

Yes, there are those on here who somehow manage to make +$500 a month writing on Xomba.

There are two types of users who come to Xomba. 1. Users who just enjoy writing online.
2. Users who want to make money.

Making money online is USUALLY a scam.
Period. You should always investigate any make money offers online. Never ever, ever, ever pay money to make money.

With that being said yes you can make money here.

The easiest way is to just practice and save your URL in your Google Adsense account. This way you can track impressions and earnings per your article.

Most your readers come from people searching on Google and Yahoo.

This means people are searching for something and then they see your article in the search engine results and click on it.

So the title of your article is VERY important.

Moreover, you need to make sure you write quality content. You create a reputation when you post something. So, by writing high quality articles, you’re developing a reputable name for yourself.

For example, you write about recipes. Let’s say I do search on Google for a carrot cake recipe. I see your article and click it.
I love what you wrote and then I click on your profile to read other recipes you have written.

I might even join Xomba and post a comment on your article.

You now have a fan who can tell other people about your writing.

This should be EVERYONE'S goal on Xomba. Not making money, but developing a solid reader base.

It is called branding.

Which statement do you think pays more in the long run.

I wrote a recipe on Xomba and made $4.00 off of it.

OR

I write on Xomba and have about 100 readers who make sure they read every article I post.

Here’s another example.

Let’s say I read an article on www.cnn.com.
The article isn’t that good, but I click on an advertisement that I am sort of interested in. (Never click your own ads or tell other people to click them)

Now, I read another article on www.cnn.com that I really like, but I don’t click any ads. Instead I goto Xomba.com and create a Xomblurb about the article. Hence, possibly driving more traffic to the Cnn article.

(Remember Xomblurbs are social bookmarks. It is a way for you to bring attention to something interesting you found online.)

Does this make sense?

Building brand loyalty and not chasing the dollar is so much more important in most cases.

That doesn’t mean you can’t do both, but ultimately you stand a better chance in 6 months if you become a popular writer rather than chasing the dollar and playing lottery.

I’m not going to lie to you; there are those on Xomba who have a knack at writing solely for money.

The last thing I can tell you is that you need to be realistic about earnings.

If you can make $300 a month extra on spending 3 hours a week writing on Xomba then you are talking about $25 an hour of your time. Which is hopefully spent having fun and becoming a better writer.

Think of Xomba as a lucrative hobby rather than a job. If someone needs money then they better find a job rather than look for easy money on the internet.

Set small goals at first. You might try treating Xomba as a game. Write 10 Xomblurbs and 3 Xombytes in one week and try to make $20 from them. Remember to track those URLs in your Adsense account.

Check these tools out www.google.com/trends and www.adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Make sure you watch the news and pay attention to the time of year it is along with holidays.

Keep notes on what articles do well and develop a strategy. Use the small social bookmarking tool found on the bottom of all your Xombytes and Xomblurbs to spread the word about what you have written.

And last, but not least read other people’s articles and comment on them.

Good luck and feel free to contact us with any questions.

Nick's right. There's a lot

Nick's right. There's a lot of different ways to find success on xomba. Like anything on the internet, you just need to find your niche.

It is not a talent

Great writer's have talent, but you don't need talent to be successful on Xomba. Dedom figured out what works for him. By playing and experimenting he came up with ways to hit it big. He found a way. Not the only way, mind you. It's not a magic shot or a trick that you can use, but more of a strategy.

Building and Dreaming

I hope to build to that level over time - a girl can dream...

most people won't get wealthy

Then you have someone like Dedom who earns thousands a month on here. Everyone is going to have different results. Keep low expectations and try to set small goals.

Thanks for Telling the Truth

I could tell xomba was legitimate because Nick always told the truth. 1. You won't get wealthy writing for xomba. 2. It's a hobby; don't quit your day job. Hence, even though I tried my hand at xomba, I never stopped looking for a job, because I'm an umemployed technical/business writer right now. After 3 months on xomba, I average about $0.50 a day on xomba, and that's the truth. Hence, all my postings under Job & Career. If I find a legitimate job hunting website, or a great article on interviewing, etc. in my job hunting travels, I try to share it with everyone!

Thanks

About that search box...

One thing I almost brought up at the workshop (but time was running out) was if something could be done to make the Search box on Xomba more effective. My experience with it has been less than magical... many times before I write a post I'll do a search to see if anyone's written about the topic I'm considering. When nothing shows up in the search, I write my post... and often find several "Related Articles" at the bottom of my post, using the same words I was searching for. Sometimes this happens even when the "Related Articles" have been on Xomba for weeks. If the Search box can be tweaked to make it more effective, it might cut down on the number of posts on the same subject.

Here is the link to the transcript of the workshop. It is the first 90% ... http://www.xomba.com/first_ever_xomba_online_workshop_partial_transcript_jan_2008#comment-16894 Enjoy, Angel

go ahead

Thanks.

workshop

I have a log of the first 90% at which point the program kind of started going on and off and I could not capture the rest, which was mostly just wrapping things up. With Nick's permission, I will post it. Angel
