Mount Everest Ascent- The Anniversary without the History Makers

Mount Everst as you all know is the highest mountain on Earth, with a height of its summit above sea level, of 8,848 metres or 29,029 feet.It had been a dream for the Mountaineers and adventures of the world to conquer this towering and enigmatic Moubntain peak for centuries. Many expeditions to this summit failed including the expedition of a pair little known today who reached almost there with just 300 feet away. They were Tom Bourdillon and Charles Evans. On 26 May, they turned back exhausted.

Two days later, the same expedition made its second and final assault on the summit by the pair, the legendary Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay from Nepal. They reached the summit at 11:30 a.m. local time on May 29, 1953 via the South Col Route. The rest is History.Today is the anniversary of the First Ascent of Mount Everest. Unfortunately this is one anniversary sans the history makers. Both Hillary and Tenzing are no more and the mountaineers the world over get inspiration from these two legendary expeditors who made history in the most humble way.
