MP3............IPOD

Over the past few years I have heard the advertisments for Mp3 players and the Apple Ipods. Being an old geezer(only 37 but my daughter thinks i'm old)and not really understand what they were I never looked into them all that much. Well, needless to say now that the daughter is 15 and wanting to be cool like the rest of her peers she needs an Ipod.

This is where the fun began do I splurge and get the Ipod or scrimp and get the MP3 player? I have looked and done some homework,so I thought. I went to our local mall to get her Christmas gift, needless to say the choices had me baffled.

There were many choices to choose from;the Ipod Shuffle which only carries roughly 540 song. More than enough for my listening experience but for young girl of her age would not do because there is no video capablities. The Apple Ipod also has many other options in how many Gigs do you need or if you want to have video.

The Mp3 players are all the same as the Ipods but the only difference is the pricey name on the cover. I never realizedthat the Ipods and Mp3 players were one and the same with the only difference being is the Apple Ipod is a bit better with different options.

Then there was this newest craze between the Iphone and Mircosofts attempt to outdo the Ipod with a Zune. The Iphone would be nice she could listen to music, make a phone call, surf the web and make a list of more new gadets she wants me to buy her. I have tried to win the free Ipod in one of those email sweepstakes so I did not have to buy one, still waiting for that to happen.

So I guess she will get the cheaper version just hae to makedo with the Mp3 player. Not like the old walk-mans of my time but at least she will be somewhat cool to her friends.

iPod vs. other players

Does your daughter use a PC or a Mac computer? iPods are about the only media players that work with Apple computers, so that may settle the issue for you. If she has a PC she can choose the iPod or other brands of media players. I'd suggest going to cnet.com and checking out their section on MP3/media players; they have lots of reviews that are very helpful.

Ipod Nano

My dad bought me an off-brand mp3 player a couple years ago. It was okay, but I never really felt good about it and hardly used it. Last year, I got an Ipod Nano that I absolutely LOVE - couldn't live without it. (+1) Aloha ~
