Mughal-E-Azam

Mughal-E-Azam is one of the classic movie in Indian Cinema. It is a mile stone in Indian Cinema. Whenever we think about this movie, we imagine war, romance, tragedy and emotions etc.So it is the mixture of each and every type of variety.

Plot Summary:-This movie basically based on Mughal history, in which a son (Salim) raises the voice of revolt against his father (Akbar) to save his love. So period of this movie is 1550-1610.

Akbar king of Delhi, his son Salim loves a maid servant .But Akbar don’t like such types of relationship in between a prince and a maid servant .So how Salim faces all the troubles ?How Akbar gets the solutions of this problems?etc…….

My opinions:- In my opinion it is only one golden movie in Indian Cinema. The performances of each and every character in this movie are really commendable.
Irascible Akbar, Obstinate Salim, Grace of Anarkali, Affection of Jodha towards Salim.
So all characters are fit in their role.

The war scene of Akbar and Salim, love scene of Salim and Anarkali, makes the movie perfect. Jewellery, costume and set are really good. They look on original plot of history. Music is good.

Direction and Cinematography:-The direction of K.Asif and cinematography is really commendable. Each and every scene of this movie, are very close to realistic plot of history.

Some other interesting points related to Mughal-E-Azam:-
• This movie was basically started on 1945 with starcast Chandramohan, Sapru, Nargis. But due some reason and Indo-Pak dividation, this movie project was failed. But again In 1952 K.Asif planned to make this with star cast Prithviraj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, Madhubala.

• This movie completed in 8 years and finally released on 1960.

• The song “Pyar kiya to darna kya”, had written 105 times by Shakeel Badayuni.After that this song had selected.
• In this movie song “Pyar kiya to darna kya” was sung in bathroom for echo ,by Lata Mangeskar.
• The total budget of this film was 1 crore at that time and 15 lakh spent on song “Pyar kiya to darna kya”.Mirrors are imported from Belgium to making set of mirror palace.It was too costly song at that time.
• Original Pearls were used for scatter/dishevel.
• This movie have three colored songs and remaining movie was B/W.K. Asif wants that movie had totally colored ,but for budget problem only three songs had been taken as color in original version of movie(1960).

• For war scens more than 100 elephants and 1000 of horses was used.

• It is only the movie in which 100 chorus sung the song “Zindabad”.

Conclusion:- So this is a Total period film with all types of taste .So this movie shows that how a person can abandon for love.This movie shows how a person (Akbar ) can save his prestige.
