The roadmap for Palestinian State, in conformity with Israel was drawn way back in 2002. Lot of dust must have accumulated on those unfulfilled drafts of deception. Didn't it buy time for Israel to recoup its military hardware and its hideous stranglehold? Today, Israel is viewed as a declining, demoralized and dysfunctional country. Its President is being investigated for sexual offences, its military hierarchy caving in to public pressure for its defeat at the hands of Hizbollah, its Prime Minister living on borrowed daylights. Even its American patrons are unhappy with the brazen use of tactical Bunker Buster bombs on civilian populations in its war with Lebanon. What was surmised as suspicious, the involvement of 19 trainee pilots to commandeer the commercial airliners and hit the elusive targets with the precision of Air force top guns is now becoming algebra of intense speculative insight. With the structural scientists weighing in with their theory of foundation busting explosions independent of aerial impact is now gaining grounds for exhaustive review of 9/11 episode in fresh light. Murder is out. These mind-boggling developments have pushed the strong Israel lobby against the wall. The cracks that appeared seem to rip apart the modicum of rock-solid faith of pro-Israel slant of American policies.

US public distrust of Administration's rationale for Iraqi invasion is now openly branded as manufactured and manipulated intelligence to sell war in Iraq. The bruising rejection of Bush - his approval rating touching a petty 27% - seems to compel him embark on another venture with prospects of rehabilitating his raucous ratings to give some semblance of decency and dignity to his place in the history books. Musharraf has been selected for the job purely on the basis that the Bush-Blair-Mush triumvirate are joined at the hip for their wicked war against terror (none other than Islamic terror that Bush pronounced in his State of the Union address). The strong bastions of Sunni States are being herded to coalesce into a group that would insulate Israel against confrontational stance of Iran and its salacious sectarian followers and at the same time underwrite its security. It envisions continued existence of Israel, side by side a scrappy State of Palestine in the captured Arab lands so that the pathetic plight of Palestinians is forever consigned to congenital Arab internecine acrimony. How can anyone lavish the virtues of vision or statesmanship to the autocratic ruler, who would bend or break constitution in his quest for his re-election through lame duck assemblies rather than seek fresh mandate from assemblies that result from transparent elections in 2008. One would say that's not politics it is poll-a-trick.

The parts of this editorial

The parts of this editorial discussing 9/11 and American political reaction is virtual fiction, so I presume it's written for another audience.

There are American patrons unhappy with the use of bunker-busting bombs in the war in Lebanon. However, those American patrons support Israel's right to defend itself against the civilian-killing Hezbollah rockets that precipitated that war.

There are conspiracy theories about 9/11, just as there are still conspiracy theories about the JFK assassination more than 43 years later. There are those who believe both the JFK and 9/11 theories. Most Americans debate the causes of 9/11, but generally agree that the 19 "trainee pilots" were Al Queda terrorists.

The "exhaustive review of 9/11 episode in fresh light" is apparently gaining ground in a very low-key way. Structural engineers have debated the WTC collapse, but just as some make the case you are making, other highly regarded engineers are saying the collapse is consistent with the plane crashes into the towers.

You must never have seen the World Trade Center towers or the Pentagon first-hand or you would not say they were elusive targets requiring top gun precision. That statement is fantasy.

You state "murder is out". Are you saying the acts of those 19 terrorists causing the deaths of three thousand people is not murder? If you are, most people would find that mind-boggling. If you are not, what are you saying?

Bush does have a 27% approval rating. Many do distrust the rationale for the Iraq war. But many of those who disapprove do so not because they distrust the original rationale, but because they strongly disagree with the conduct of the ensuing war.

Additionally, many of those questioning the original rational for the war don't do so out of mistrust, but because they question the competence of the original intelligence used to support the rationale. Hardly a ringing endorsement of Bush, but it shows the reality is far more complex than what is shown in this editorial.

In the United States, we have a right to debate and argue about everything and we exercise it to the fullest. Still, this editorial portrays the terrorism of 9/11 and the ensuing political debates here in a way that does not reflect reality.
