My Boss, the Super Freak
posted February 12, 2008 - 8:21pmWhy is it that some people like to push other people around?
I've come to realize that life is much better than most people allow it to be, and that we are infact in control of our own peace of mind.
So you decide you hate your boss, and all bosses are bad. He's like anybody elses boss, and you might as well just deal with it.
It goes on for some time, you're into the stability, you're into the constant steady flow of cash money and you allow yourself to become a little drugged by the ability to pick up dinner and a movie instead of doing something creative, something to ultimately seperate you from the person you had to be during the day.
You've got some money now, and it's something you didn't really have before when you were younger, in and out of college, in and out of easy jobs.
You've got a big kid job now.
And your boss sucks.
Time passes, the hatred gets a little more personal.
He is kinda, maybe, talking down to you.
She, maybe, embarassed you a little in front of another employee.
He might have miffed you with his little rant of disatisfaction.
And now you're beginning to bring your dislike of your boss home with you.
It goes from mild disatisfaction to all encompassing obsession and you lay in bed minutes before the alarm goes off, dreading the up and coming day.
It's 3pm on your day off and all you can think about is.. "O god, I've gotta be there in 17 hours."
I realized in the middle of one of those dragging, mentally painful days when a 17 year old girl looked at me after having been snapped at and said, "There is no reason for this. Life can be so much better than this."
And I made the decision to do something else.
And I am so effing happy.
Do something for yourself. Make yourself happy.
Don't let anyone elses lack of self confidence become a form of control over you.
Life is so much better than that, and you're just forcing yourself to stay there.
post script: in the midst of this up and coming recession, remember: people will always go out to eat.
