My call from God

This is written in a play format, because that’s its true intentions is to do this as a monologue on stage for my church. Sit back and enjoy!

We have all been called by God at one time or another. If you feel that you have not, then just wait, its coming. I want to share with you how I was called by God. It all started when I was on the cell phone with my wife.

Bill: Okay, so now I’m standing in front of the French fries, which one do you want me to bring home. They have crinkle cut, seasoned, steak fries. Hold on a second Tracy, I got call waiting. Hello?

Caller: Heavy breathing in, then out, over and over again.

So I clicked back over to my wife, kind of freaked out a little that I got an obscene phone call in the frozen foods section of the grocery store.

Bill: Sorry about that honey, I think it was a wrong number. There it goes again Tracy, I’m going to have to call you back.

I looked at the caller ID on my cell phone this time, and it said 463 for the phone number. You guys that are really into text messaging already know what that spell. So I answer the phone.

Bill: Hello.

Caller: Heavy breathing again but this time he speaks. I am your father, Bill.

Bill: Man, you don’t sound anything like my dad.

Caller: No Bill, THE father, you know, God.

Bill: Oh, okay, well, what’s up?

I am not really sure what is going on, but I don’t think God is going to call me on a cell phone, so I start looking around for hidden cameras. Maybe I’m going to be on the next hidden camera show.

Caller: I wanted to tell you that I want you to be a part of my life, I want you to come to church when you feel comfortable in doing so.

Bill: Okay, no problem.

I quickly hung up the phone. I was severely freaked out by what had just happened. Who would believe me if I told them that God called me on my cell phone with the voice of James Earl Jones in his role as Darth Vader in Star wars to tell me to come to church.
Its amazing how God touches us and asks us to be a part of him. For me, he simply called me on the phone, for others a burning bush. What I learned from all this is that even if you hang up, he will try again. I also learned that God will let me come to him when I’m ready. It might not be the exact moment I get called, but he knows that I will be on my way shortly.
