My Dog is Gay
posted October 8, 2008 - 2:04pmI think one of my dogs is gay. No, seriously, if my two dogs were people then I'd say one of them was gay, the other seems passively unconcerned. Point is, they're not people, so can dogs be gay?
Actually, there must be something attracting this dog to our house. He actually belongs to my brother-in-law but a few weeks ago we found him here in he morning. He'd managed to find his way across about 10km of fields to come back here after a brief visit. He did this twice, so we gave up taking him away and now stays here. Sure, the food is better at our house, and he has some company. I've not seen him actually mounting our first dog, but he does seem overly affectionate.
Searched on the net to see many dog experts say that one male mounting another is a sign of dominance. Don't know if true or not, but haven't seen that, and they don't fight with each other. But there is a lot of licking and cleaning and grooming from one male to the other - never reciprocated!
I've also tracked down a few gay websites who are obviously keen to promote research into gay animals.

The fabulour kingdom of gay animals
Gay Animals
Some amusing reading on animal sexual habits - they obviously don't seem to have the moral minority lashing out at them.
Actually, although this was about dogs, our two cats are not gay but are probably having an incestuous relationship. They lick each other all the time, sleep together, and about a week ago I think had sex for the first time. How sweet! Only about 9 months old.
It's probably the air in Thailand. But I don't think any of our zoo will become lady-boys (that's another story!)
