Recently I wrote an article for the Xomba dream contest on My Dream Job, which was to become a full time professional writer. Because of that article I am much closer to making that dream come true.

Someone who read the article and works as a professional ghost writer, saw my article and contacted the company she worked for. They were currently looking for a few new writers and they told her to have me send them some links to some of my work.

I was hired an hour later.

At first, I was very nervous about accepting the job as I was not sure that despite my dreams I was up to actually writing on assigned subjects for clients who wanted the articles written a certain way. It is one thing to develop your own style of writing and quite another to write according to guidelines set by someone else.

In truth, a part of me was afraid that I might find out that my long held dream of being a professional writer was just that, a dream. I was afraid that I would discover that I simply did not have the talent to make it in the professional writing world.

However, I knew if I was going to become a professional writer I simply had to take this risk. Opportunities like this were not going to come along every day, and if I passed this one up I might never find out if I had the right stuff.

I spent the first couple of days acquainting myself with what the job entailed and what was expected of me. I finally wrote my first article the third day of my employment and sent it to client with baited breath.

Each day, I completed one or two assignments. The article writing itself got somewhat easier as I learned the ropes. I even got a couple of thank yous from my clients which gave my self confidence a bit of a lift.

Yesterday I received my first paycheck and I must say seeing that suddenly made me realize that my dream, has become a reality. I am a professional writer.

I am now looking to writing more for this company and within the next couple of months making writing my full time career.

I am living proof that no one is ever to old to dream or to have their dreams become reality.
