My Dream Job as World Explorer

My Dream Job as World Explorer

Throughout history, people have maintained an insatiable desire to make new discoveries. From the discovery of entire continents to microscopic organisms, curiosity has been responsible for great progress of civilization. Progress is not entirely without a price. It has often been paralleled with the destruction of earth's ecosystem and extinction of many species.

I think there is still an abundance of imminent discoveries in remote, inaccessible areas of the world. It is possible that the undiscovered in the depths of the earth, mountains, jungle, ocean, islands, and space hold clues to our past and secrets to a future with unlimited energy resources, human longevity, and eradication of all disease.

My dream job would allow me to travel to these inaccessible locations through teleportation to discover the unknown.  I would collect a small amount of whatever possible without upset to the biosystem or creating a threat of extinction.  It would be studied for potential valuable use and reproduction in an environment set up to replicate its own habitat. I would also have the opportunity to photographically and audibly record every detail at each location for purposes of historical and future study.  Teleportation would make it possible to explore the remaining isolated places on the planet in very little time and without marring the natural environment in the path to each destination by traditional means of travel.

Sita-Ashok (Saraca asoca) in Kolkata West Bengal India by J.M.GargI would record the sights and sounds of wildlife but focus mostly on the discovery of plants that could have medicinal properties to cure diseases that are currently untreatable. Known rare plants with healing properties exist in remote areas today.  Many are being pushed to extinction from illegal harvesting and black market sales. The journey to reach these rare plants often damages the geological landscape and habitats of countless species. The ability to teleport would eliminate the adverse effects associated with conventional access to isolated regions of our world.  Easy access and potential for reproduction would also greatly minimize or eliminate destructive illegal harvesting and black market trade.

Teleportation is not a new concept but is certainly considered far-fetched and impossible by most people. However, is teleportation truly impossible? The Neanderthal never imagined trains, planes, ships, cars, and rockets into space. Never in our wildest dreams did we visualize that works of science fiction could become a reality, yet many have.

Until teleportation becomes a reality, my dream job will remain a dream job and probably not materialize in my lifetime. Nevertheless, I do believe that my dream job will indeed become a true job of the future and fulfill someone’s dreams to make positive changes for upcoming generations.
