My Elder Dragon Highlander Decklist, featuring Sliver Overlord

My friend Tony came to visit this past week, and he brought his Elder Dragon Highlander deck with him. Of course, that meant I had to make one as well. I threw one together really fast, but I already had an idea using Sliver Overlord as my general. The initial decklist had a few kinks in it, but nothing I don't feel I haven't ironed out. 19. Demonic Tutor

The deck gets to play aggro most of the time, with the included Slivers running on a nice curve. You can also be a combo deck, using the Overlord to tutor up most of the needed pieces (as well as Congregation at Dawn or Demonic Tutor). The combo? Sliver Queen plus Basal Sliver plus Gemhide Sliver plus either Heart Sliver or Firewake Sliver. It's infinite mana because you make a Sliver token with the Queen, tap the token for a mana of any color via Gemhide, then sacrifice the token for two black mana via Basal, and finally use the two black mana to make another token. Rinse and repeat. With infinite mana, you can use Overlord to tutor up any Sliver you want, which is probably either an Acidic Sliver, a Cautery Sliver, or a Psionic Sliver, and then use that to produce an number of tokens and use them to cause any amount of direct damage.

But, you don't need to do the combo to win. Just playing Slivers on a curve and swinging like mad can be enough to win you a game. Especially with the deck's removal suite: five spells that can kill pretty much any permanent, plus the most efficient removal spell ever printed. The deck should have no problems keeping the board clear enough for Slivers to stampede for the win.

The Planeswalkers are in the deck because...well, I couldn't find a good reason not to run them. I mean, Ajani Goldmane gives all my guys +1/+1 counters and vigilance. Ajani Vengeant can Lightning Helix, which is okay, but more importantly he really hampers control decks that need lots of mana or can't get rid of him in time. Chandra is creature kill plus an faster clock. Elspeth can make your Slivers big and evasive or eventually indestructible, which is pretty intense. Garruk is mana ramp, which is always nice, plus Overrun, which is often lethal. Jace is just stupid card advantage, which can mean a lot. Liliana is card advantage that, again, is great against control decks, plus she can tutor up those combo pieces or ressurect all your Slivers if needed. Sarkhan Vol gives all Slivers haste and a pump, which is seriously speeds up the aggro clock, plus he can steal annoying Generals the opponent controls and send them in himself. Nicol Bolas...well, what doesn't he do? Adding a butt-ton of counters on him makes him rootgrapple. For a nominal cost in loyalty he steals any creature. And for his ultimate, you...win the game?

Got any suggestions? I'd be glad to hear them!
