My Experience With Verizon Wireless Telephone Carrier
posted September 23, 2009 - 10:22pmI first signed on to Verizon Wireless a little over two years ago. Since then my service contract has run out and I am still currently a Verizon subscriber. Despite the offers I have yet to renew or accept any new 2-year service agreement; not because I don't like Verizon, but because I enjoy not having a contract.
I first signed up to Verizon after my previous carrier Amp'd Mobile went belly-up. Anyone familiar with Amp'd will know that they were an MVNO that operated off of Verizon's network. Amp'd offered basically the same features and service as Verizon but somehow at a lower price. I'll save all the details for a later article perhaps, suffice to say though, I do miss Amp'd. No sense in crying over spilled milk though.
After the demise of Amp'd I searched for a phone carrier and the logical choice was Verizon. I was pleased with the coverage from Amp'd and since Amp'd was powered by Verizon networks it seemed like a no brainer that Verizon would be the best choice. Verizon gets service just about anywhere! I've been to very few places where I don't have service; I live in rural New York. I'm not kidding, I can look out my window and all I see is farm country! I get excellent service. If there was one thing I would say that is consistent with my experience with Verizon is that I've just about always got signal.
Signal is only part of the equation however. Over the course of the last two years I have had several conversations with customer support representatives. I have to say that each and every one of these conversations have been very pleasant. I have never been connected to a rude representative. They have all been attentive and willing to help any way they can. I recently had some substantial overages on my account after having recently reduced my monthly minutes package and was able to negotiate with the representative to have half of the charges removed. I know other people have, in the past, been able to negotiate their way out of all charges but in all honesty, Verizon has no obligation to reduce any of it. I was in no way beligerent, nor disrespectful to the representative, I explained why we had accrued the overage and asked politely if there was any way that they could help. The representative placed me on hold for a few minutes and offered to remove half the charges if I would accept the original minute package (which I had intended on doing anyway).
Aside from Verizon being one of the more expensive wireless cell phone carriers, they do have a huge advantage over the competition. Theire customer service, in my experience, has always been top notch. I have a nice phone and it always gets service, just about anywhere. Anywhere I haven't had service if I take a step to the left it will usually find signal (no joke!). I have to say that I have alway been impressed by the quality of service offered by Verizon. After two years with Verizon I have yet to find a better carrier, if I did I would surely have signed up. Verizon might be the more expensive wireless carrier on the market but you really do get what you pay for.
