My Menopause Experience
posted June 18, 2009 - 1:15pmMy Menopause Experience
Today I realized although I’ve lost most of my teeth,
I haven’t lost my craving for honey
Or the sweet scent of a garden of flowers in full bloom.
Though I have more flesh on my bones,
I still crave the
sun’s touch upon my skin.
Though I don’t need to be coupled with a man,
I still want to experience the sensuousness of dance.
Though my hair is showing a few strands of white,
I still want to ride astride a horse
And feel the wind comb through it.
Though my eyes have become a little weaker,
I still want to hold a camera to them
And capture the precious moments of life in its lens.
Though my arms are a little flabby,
I can still hold my own.
Though no babe can suckle at my breast,
My heart has grown a little larger.
Though my hips are a bit wider,
I can still move them to a beat.
Though my thighs are a bit chubby,
I can keep up with most.
Though I have lost my sex drive,
I still enjoy a lust for life.
Though I am a captive within these walls,
I look out the window
And know the world is waiting for me.
