My MTV Sunkist Orange Nation Review
posted August 21, 2008 - 4:09pmOn Friday August 15 a friend and I arrived in beautiful Los Angeles for the MTV Sunkist Orange Nation Party. I was one of 150 winners who would be staying at the Renassaince Hollywood Hotel in Hollywood in the best location possible. In this one block of Hollywood you can visit the Kodak Theater where the Academy Awards are held and Mann's Chinese Theater (formerly Grauman's) where the footprints of the stars are.

The party itself was held Saturday August 16 on the rooftop of The London, West Hollywood, not far from where we stayed. This hotel is also incredible and is associated with Gordon Ramsay of "Hell's Kitchen". The recent winner of the show is currently the chef at this hotel.
We arrived at the Renaissance at about 2pm. At check in we were told to go to the third floor to receive a "goodie bag". I was rather excited at this point but soon came to find out the goodie bag was quite cheesy. It consisted of an orange Sunkist bag, a Sunkist cap, a Sunkist shirt, some glow sticks, and some iPod speakers, which were also rather cheap. We all had a good laugh over these "gifts", a laugh which continues any time I think of it!

Much sightseeing was done. Hollywood is incredible! We took a tour of the stars' homes, took a bus to the Santa Monica Pier, took the Metro to downtown LA and Universal City. Just walking around Hollywood is a treat! I'll never forget the Mexican woman, whose "talent" was reenacting a scene from "Misery" and continually saying "I Love You, I Love You". I gave her money for originality.

The party itself was great but a little disappointing. The "celebrities" were the Kardashian sisters, Kim and Khloe, and Pete Wentz, from "Fall Out Boy" and currently married to Ashley Simpson. I would've been happy with them had they been allowed to mingle with us. I got to see the backs of their heads! The food consisted of many trays of shrimp, spring rolls, sushi, mini-burgers, and a little dessert cup. The food was great but I left a little hungry. There was an open bar though! The view was incredible also and there were many stations set up in the cabanas where you could play video games. The entertainment, if you want to call it that, was a girl in a bikini inside a plastic ball, playing with a beach ball.

I met some fun people too! Kimbra and Christine from Arizona, and Mike and Sharon right down the road from me in Utica, thanks for the memories! I'll never forget this trip and I'm very happy I met you all.
