My New Anti-Diet
posted August 13, 2006 - 3:12pmI just recently read a book entitled The French Don't Diet Plan and it has completely changed my approach to health and weight loss. I really want to share the concept with people because it makes so much sense!!!
The first thing I want to talk about is
the concept of eating real foods, not faux foods. What is a faux food? There are many examples of faux foods in American grocery stores, but here is one example. This is the ingredient list of a very popular condiment that many people use on a daily basis:
Water, Sugar, Partially Hydrogenated Soybean and/or Cottonseed Oil, Sodium Caseinate, Dipotassium Phosphate, Color Added, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Sodium Stearoyl, Lactylate, Mono and Diglycerides, Polysorbate 60,Carrageenan, Beta-Carotene Color
That, my friends, is Coffeemate Coffee Creamer in French Vanilla. After reading that, your first question should be, “What the heck is Sodium Stearoyl and Polysorbate 60 and what it is doing in my creamer?” Now the ingredient list for another very popular condiment that most people drink on a daily basis:
Milk and Cream
In case you can’t tell what that is, it’s the ingredient list for Half and Half. Now which sounds like a healthier condiment for your coffee?
This a concept number one. I took Dr. Clower's recommendation and I completely cleaned out my refrigerator and cupbords. I got rid of everything with an ingredient list that needed a degree in Chemistry to understand. I've reverted back to the old days of buying real cheese and real breads and real meat. And I've lost six pounds so far! I still have a lot to learn about all of this, but I hope to share everything I learn with as many people as I can. Maybe if we all work together, we can start controlling the epidemic that is sweeping through America called obesity.

The French's secret to being thin is not eating duh
Can you give a brief
Can you give a brief breakdown of what these faux foods do to one's body? The example you give above is interesting. I see from it what is in Coffeemate. But I don't know exactly, from this read, why all that stuff is bad for the body or worse than "milk and cream" (although I guess that should be obvious).
You have the "what it is"; just wondering if you can give us the "what it does."

No Fatties Here!
I read French Women Don't Get Fat and came to the same conclusions! Go on wicha bad self! Gotta move more, eat less, eat more whole foods. Preach the word, my sista, preach the word!
It's a shame you don't taste the world I taste. Everything's sugar laced.

Me too
I have taken steps to have a clean diet but it has to do more to satisfy my obsession to slow down the aging process as much as possible.
I rarely drink soda if any. When I do take a sip, it feels like it burns a bit. It also happens with other drinks that have fancy chemicals like Red 40. I imagine this is the same feeling for those who start drinking beer.
So I admire your first steps. Believe it or not, it is just the beginning to more energy.
Stake through the Heart.....

You're breaking my heart here.
