My NFL Power Rankings Week 13
posted December 1, 2008 - 11:21pmWhat a crazy week of football! On a Sunday in which 10 of the 12 games were won by the road team, it appears that some teams are showing why they win all the time and some may have had their Super Bowl dreams ended. Here is my list of the Top Twelve teams in the NFL:
1) New York Giants (11-1) They just keep on winning. And impressively. They play in probably the toughest division in the NFL and they don't skip a beat.
2) Tennessee Titans (11-1) They took their only-loss anger out on the hapless Detroit Lions. They didn't waste any time doing it either.
3) Pittsburgh Steelers (9-3) I think there is a big drop between 2 and 3. The Steelers finally played a great game this week but their offense has been questionable all year. Can they hold up against the challenge of the Ravens?
4) Carolina Panthers (9-3) They won a big one against the Packers this week and I expect them to take care of Tampa Bay next week. They are on the upswing once again.
5) Dallas Cowboys (8-4) Tony Romo is back and so are the Cowboys. They slaughtered the Seahawks. Look out.
6) Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-3) They won a close one against the Saints that could've gone either way. Are they as good on the road? Also in a very tough division, if they beat the Panthers, they'll get my respect.
7) Baltimore Ravens (8-4) Their offense is now a strength. The defense is still strong too. This team could topple the Steelers and be a threat in the playoffs.
8) New York Jets (8-4) They handed the Titans their only loss a week ago so maybe their loss at home to the Broncos was the result of a letdown. Or maybe this was the true Jets? We'll see. They need to win this division to have any hope.
9) Indianapolis Colts (8-4) They have now won 5 in a row but not all that impressively. Of course, winning 5 in a row in this league of parity is quite an accomplishment and, when you have Peyton Manning, you're always a threat.
10) Atlanta Falcons (8-4) You have to like this team. Who would've ever thought they would be in the playoff chase this soon after the Michael Vick era? Matt Ryan was a class pick and Michael Turner was a great pick up.
11) Denver Broncos (7-5) The hardest team in the NFL to predict. They have lost 3 in a row at home but have won 3 in a row on the road. They've lost to Oakland, Kansas City, and Jacksonville, but have beaten the Jets and the Falcons on the road. When their offense is hot, they can beat anyone.
12) Minnesota Vikings (7-5) They have won some big games of late and have taken over first place in the division. It looks like they are peaking at the right time.
