My number 8 story (maybe karma)
posted July 7, 2008 - 11:01amI do artwork for a living, one night I ran into this lady who just absolutly loved my painting/drawing of three white wolves on dark leather decorated with leather, silver fox
fur and glass beads, she practically tore it out of my hands and told me "I have to
have this"
It was a few days before christmas 2006, and I needed the money at the time, I was working for a hotel in Anchorage and was stuck there 7 nights a week and this night I
happened to get lucky as someone else watched the desk for me that night (which didn't happen very often) anyway ....
The lady just had to have the drawing but she only had half of the money, she wrote down her number at work, home, cell phone (she even says, I work for the police department, I wouldn't do anything to scam you or rip you off) and told me that she could give me the other half of the money on the 28th of December which would be one day before my birthday, so
she talked me into giving it to her for $100 that night and I could collect the rest later on.
There is a certain show I listened to at the time, and this lady came on and was telling all about numbers, how the number 8 if written, typed, or printed on a piece of paper and put in your wallet that it would increase prosperity for you, so I did as she told and drew a number 8 on a piece of paper and put it in my wallet. Just to check it out.
It became the night of the 28th of December, so I called this lady who owed me $100 for my painting/drawing I made, and she was very grumpy with me on the phone and I asked if I should
call back later she said no! I asked well we agreed to meet tonight and she said she would be there and simply hung up without a good-bye or anything. Since this would be the only night I would have off for .... I don't know how long!!! I couldn't wait to get there and get the rest of the money in my
hands, well I got there and she was there with other people talking to them and instead of interrupting
I waited till they were mostly finished and asked her about the other half of the money, she started
hollering, that my art was a piece of junk and it wasn't worth $200 and she was not going to give me
the other half, she wouldn't let me fit a word in edge wise, and I wasn't going to stand there and
argue with her, and it was very disturbing that she was treating me like this after I thought I was
being as nice as I could be, before christmas (maybe she had a grandmother that liked wolves, i don't know)
Well as she kept rambling a bunch of things and did not ever give me a chance to talk so I just tapped her on the shoulder and simply said "have a good night"
When I got back to the hotel that night, It was laundry night. I went down to put my clothes in the dryer
and there was a bill all crumpled on the ground right in front of one of the washers, I unfolded it and to
my surprise it was $100.
I know the lady whom I had met earlier that night that still owed me, did not lose it! But who did? I will
never know, but I was able to celebrate my birthday anyway that year.
