My online degree experience.
posted June 23, 2009 - 10:46amI just recently finished my Bachelors degree online, and have to say it was interesting and fun. My first two years of college came after a four year tour in the Marine Corp; I knew right away I needed to get a degree to compete in a competitive market. So I started doing some research and found a private school I liked and enrolled. My freshman and sophomore years were difficult given I was working full time and going to school full time. And my grade point average was a reflection of the sleepless nights and lack of studying. To say the least when I graduated with my Associates I decided to look into online college to finish, the class room was killing me. Four years had past and the internet boom was in full swing, it seemed as if every school had some sort of online program. This was a big plus, now a grown man with a career and family I had less time than before to study. Online was the answer and the school I had attended my first two years had the accommodations . Not knowing what to expect I enrolled and the result was rewarding. I paced my self and took no more than two classes at a time totaling seven hours. My grade point average went from 2.7 to a 3.4, and made the Deans list three times something I had never done before. I took my time and graduated June 2009, finally my journey had ended. I am pretty sure that without the online classes I would have never returned to finish and one of my goals would have not been fulfilled. I highly recommend online classes to both new students and continuing simply because the flexibility they provide. I will say that to be successful online you must develop good study habits, remember you are in a virtual class room so be accountable to yourself.
The school I attended is DeVry University, they offer numerous degree programs. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Technicial Management.
