My Top 5 Rhymes for Purple

My Top 5 Rhymes for Purple

That the word purple doesn't have an adequate number of rhyming words really bothers me. I mean if no man is an island, then why does purple get to stand alone? I have decided to submit my own five words that might have a chance of making it in to our vernacular to help poets and limerick writers with their creations.

#5. Furple (noun): a flashy overcoat made of fur and/or crushed velvet. Example: Because nights are still cold in Minneapolis, Prince (or the artist formerly known as Prince) donned his furple after leaving the disco.

#4. Squirples (noun): The effect of drinking too much prune juice. Example: Heading quickly to the bathroom, it looked like Grandpa got the squirples again.

#3. Burple (verb): To belch after drinking grape soda. Example: The mother reminded the child to excuse himself in public after he burpled.

#2. Nurple (noun): To twist one or two strategic points on another's chest thereby causing a bruise. Example: Please don't make me give an example sentence!

#1. Cerple (verb): To ride to work with someone else. Example: Mr. Cerson joined a cerple when he could no longer afford gas for his cer.

I hope these help! Now orange is starting to bother me...Let me think about it and I'll try to submit my top 5 rhymes for orange by next weekend.

Rhyming word for Orange

I was just watching a TV program with my son, "Drake and Josh" and in it this guy was desperately trying to find a rhyming word for "Orange" for his song, and it reminded me of this post. That's why I thought to come back and post this comment. BTW, the best he could come up with was : "Door hinge"! there you have your rhyming word for Orange.

notes don't matter either

I've heard it said that it's not the notes that make a song, but the silences in between. Don't ask me who said it. Hey, maybe it was Roger Maple Surple himself, may he rest in peace.

The PhantomU+018F (Uh) of 'L': How Biblical Names Should Be Read

The 'uh' between the 'p' and 'l' allows any word with a 'pl'-ending to "rhyme" with 'purple' (although indeed an 'urpl'-ending would rhyme more). So 'pill' can rhyme with it just as sure as 'pull' can. People reading the Old Testament need to remember that VOWELS DON'T MATTER, and that thus the 'respectful' way to read the names is to remember that the vowels are only there to help readers get to the consonants. This particularly riles me up at "Jobab": I hear someone read that name; and the angry teacher in the back of my head screams, 'It's not "Joe-Bob," it's "J-bb"!' Disagree? Join Here, Be Heard!

What happened to maple surple?

Funny stuff. However--> I'm dating myself, but I've gotta mention since nobody else has that you omitted the most famous "purple" rhyme of all, from Roger Miller's classic "Dang Me": They say roses are red and violets are purple Sugar is sweet and so is maple surple "Surple" meaning an overindulgence in the sweet stuff. ;)
