My Top 6 Songs to Clean the House By

It’s house cleaning day today and I can already hear the collective groans from the kids and my husband. In fact, none of us like spending a beautiful morning sweeping, mopping, and least of all vacuuming (short straw has to vacuum). One of the things that gets us through this ordeal is the House Cleaning Playlist on my ipod. This file has 20 songs in it which is just about the right amount of time it takes to clean the whole house. I thought it would be fun to share some of the list as a xombyte until I realized it was mostly 80s music. So to be fair to those who are not partial to the 80s music, I picked a funky groove from each decade from the 50s until now. There’s a little somethin’, somethin’ for everyone’s taste and at the very least, the tunes can make the house cleaning chores bearable. Enjoy!

1950s tune: Jailhouse Rock by the King, Elvis Presley. It’s an excellent song for dusting. Start your gyrations here:

1960s tune: Can’t Buy Me Love by the Beatles. This is good for loading dishes in to the dishwasher. Shake your head, cry and scream here:

1970s tune: Staying Alive by the Bee Gees. Wash windows to this one. It’s an excellent beat for the squeegee. Strut like you mean it here:

1980s tune: Funky Town by Lipps, Inc. Most excellent for sorting clothes and starting a load of laundry. Also, if you hate cleaning the bathroom, play this one extra loud. Then you don’t fixate on cleaning the toilet because you’re too busy taking it down…to funky town. Make a move that’s right for you here:

1990s tune: Desire by U2. I prefer this one for mopping. You can really scrub the floors with this beat. It’s also slow to start so you have time to grab the mop. I said a mop, not a Guinness:

2000s tune: Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis. This is a great wrap-up song. With this one, I finish picking up odds and ends just in time for the big finish. Warning: The video may not be appropriate for the kiddies. Keep cleaning, keep keep cleaning the house, Keep cleaning, keep keep cleaning the house here:

Hey irvingl2001, your puns are great!

Hey irvingl2001, your puns are much better than any I could have thought of. All I could come up with was "Scrub" by TLC. After that I had nothing :). Cleaning Tunes

Like your article. I myself tend to go with pun themes - for example, anything by The Shirts when doing laundry, lots of DUSTy Springfield when getting out the Pledge, etc.
