A Mystical Journey into the Heart of God, the Hearts of His Children, and the Prosperity Gospel

A Mystical Journey into the Heart of God, the Hearts of His Children, and the Prosperity Gospel

And the trees heard the sound of the Lord walking in the cool spirit of the day.
And the Lord said ever so peacefully, “Hello my children. How are you?”

“I need money for my rent!”
“I need money for my electric bill!”
“I need water!”
“You haven’t saved my child yet, see he’s over there dry as a door nail.”
“I need a spouse! I’m lonely!  I’m the only one left!”
“You said you will provide for all my needs according to your riches in glory…”

In the background is heard “God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory… God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory… God shall supply all of your needs according to his riches in Glory…”
Ok everyone, let’s say the mantra one more time and make it personal this time “God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory.”

“Yeah God, what about supplying all of my needs? I don’t have a car, my kids are sick, I have been praying for fire and water, we are in a drought here and you say you will supply all of my needs according to your riches in glory?’

The Lord begins to turn around, and some say that there was a tear in his eye, yet a little child touched his hand and said, “I know you are a good daddy, you are my daddy, but I don’t understand.”

The Lord said “Come walk with me, my child.” As they began to walk through the garden and the sounds of the mantras faded, they came up on a lush fruitful tree where the ground all around it was dry as a bone.

The Lord asked, “Why is this tree producing fruit in this drought?”

“I don’t know” came the little voice.

“Because it trusts me. You see, this tree at one time was very productive and lush, and still is, but its roots were shallow. I noticed this, and knew it needed its roots to go down deep, so I put it in an artificial drought. It had trouble alright. It didn’t know why it was going through so many problems, yet it came to me and asked what it needed to do. I told it to send its roots down deep. It had a hard time with that concept because its roots were all used to spreading outward near the surface. It had no roots that were heading down. Yet, it struggled and continued to go deeper and deeper into my love. Now its roots run really deep and it has no fear of storms or tempest for its roots run deeper than it could have ever imagined possible. This specific tree made a choice to trust me even when it did not understand or comprehend what was in store for it.”

“I don’t mean to be argumentative, but I thought you would supply this tree with all of its needs.”

“I did my child. I came to it and saw that it needed a drought to force its roots down deep for the storms that are coming to this land. So I supplied a drought according to its need according to my riches in glory.”

“Wow! I did not know Lord.”

“Yes, most of the trees do not. It is a mystery to them. All they see is their need and they pray often to me to supply their needs and yet they don’t realize that they need depth. There are many like this. A lot of them finally die. For they lose faith in my love and in doing so they disconnect from my love.”

“That must hurt your heart God.”

“Yes, it does hurt my heart when they don’t believe in my love for them. It especially hurts when some of the trees condemn other trees when I put the other trees in a drought. They say, oh you don’t have enough faith. So, the hurting little trees go to the big prosperous trees and the prosperous trees pray for them and when they don’t get water really fast the prosperous trees condemn the little trees for not having enough faith. Some little trees don’t make it through that. It really hurts when the little trees give up because they condemn themselves for not having enough faith.”

“Wow, how your heart must weep.”

There seemed to be a silence of agreement from the Lord, but the little tree said it was hard to tell.

“What about all the mantras that the trees keep saying over and over.”

“They think by their many words they will be heard but this just shows their lack of faith because they didn’t believe the first time that I heard them. Not that they should not repeat my words, but they think they will be heard because of their many words. It is like little children in the back seat saying over and over again, “are we there yet!” They are so focused on accomplishing their goal that they miss all the beauty of the countryside I want to show them.”

“What about all those demanding that they pay their bills?”

“For many millenniums I have supplied all my children’s actual needs with out having to pay for their electricity, cable, water, car, and sewer, phone, and internet bills. Many who scream for me to pay their bills are asking for all their wants and luxuries to be paid for.  Many don’t understand what 'need' really is due to their affluent lifestyles.  Their excess could offer much sustenance to others if they would only share a small part of that excess.”

“What about all the prayers that demand you supply them wealth.”

“Most of them can’t handle wealth, because they don’t know how to love with the little that they do have; so, how will they know how to love will an abundance? See it is like this, if a tree is not able to give fruit with the little they have, how will they ever give fruit with an abundant crop?”

“But they say they do give to you, in tithes and offerings?”

“But they horde their seed and don’t let it die.”

“I don’t understand Lord?”

“If you look at the seeds that are produced in the fruit by a tree, the seed only produces new life if the fruit is eaten by someone, passes through the body, drops to the ground, and then gets buried in the ground and dies. They have to think of their fruit as dung. Yet, they follow others around and scoop up the dung and present it before me and say, “See, our good fruit, our seed faith, now you owe me.” But, they don’t realize they are presenting dung before me.” They miss when my servant Isaiah said, “All of our righteous acts are like women’s sanitary napkins**.”

“Wow, Lord that is gross.”

“Yes, it is. But, this was the sin of Cain. He presented his fruits, not the blood of the lamb, and so killed his brother. I have counseled them again, and again, that they store up their treasures in heaven, yet they want them here on earth. They store their seed up in their minds, and never forget about them so that they may be left to die. They want abundant seed, yet unless a seed falls to the ground and dies it remains alone.”

“What about all the trees that encourage them in seed faith?”

“What is that to you my little child, if I want them to remain until I come, that is between me and them. Don’t worry I love them, but you follow me.”

“I don’t get it my Lord?”

“You don’t have to. You love with me and do as I tell you and though you suffer hardships, I will be there with you, just as I will be with them and have been with all who have been given the privilege of suffering.”

“Suffering?”

“Don’t worry, all who truly love will suffer, because love suffers long. Always remember that I love you my child, and others very much.”

Heb 11:36 Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put in prison.
Heb 11:37 They were stoned; they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated—
Heb 11:38 the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and in caves and holes in the ground.
Heb 11:39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised.
Heb 11:40 God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.

Heb 4:16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Miracle of Loaves and Fishes

Yes BlogWriter I believe in the miracle of loaves of fishes.  When Jesus blessed the loaves of bread and fishes they multiplied in order to feed the whole crowd.

My priest told the store about how a modern Catholic charity only ordered enough food for one hundred people, but somehow when 500 showed up they had enough food.  The bowls kept seem to be filling themselves.

I wrote about how the loaves and fishes played a part in my writing career as well, not in a physical sense but in a spiritual sense where I gained more experiences to write about, and my courage to write multiplied as well.  Although my pennies didn't seem to multiply in my checkbook, I believe that BlogWriter's pennies did.

So in the prosperity gospel sometimes wealth is concentrated in money instead of spiritual values.  One can have prosperity of spirit, and be wealthy in terms of love, faith, and charity.

Good Job wzzz!

Miracles

I love when miracles happen!

I was once on a little adventure for a period of time with no money, and every day, three times a day, someone different would come up and share breakfast, lunch, or dinner with me. It was an amazing time. God is very gracious.

Prosperity Gospel

I don't know if we should eliminate anything, but a good balance of love, giving, honor, respect, acceptance of those who are suffering or in need, (Job comes to mind), selflessness, and focusing on the greatest treasure the heart of God, would take was is, and add a blessed richness to it. Also in it, there are many who incorporate these qualities.

P.S. I am sorry you were hurt.

Sharing

Relatives visited my family when I was a little girl of 7 and brought with them lots of pennies for my sisters and me. I counted our pennies and realized that I had lots more than my baby sister, so I gave some of mine to her. When I recounted the pennies, I had more after I had given the pennies away than I did before I got them.

I ran into the living room shouting, "It's a miracle! It's a miracle!"

Everybody laughed, but I still like to believe that by sharing what you have, miracles are bound to happen.

Great story.

Good Approach

I like your approach to this difficult problem. If only we could get the prosperity gospel out of the churches. I myself have been hurt by it. It is a counterfeit of real Christianity. Thanks for the article!
