Nanotechnology Used in Making TIPU Sultan's Sword

Robert F Curl, a Nobel laureate in Chemistry has said the indians have been using Nanotechnology since the 18th century. This would be a jolt from the blue for a lot of people considering Nanotechnology is a latest branch of science.

He said the sword of the Indian ruler Tipu Sultan is a proof of his claim. He said people of that were using the technology by trial and error method long ago, though he didn't comment on whether they used it knowingly or unknowingly. There are examples of Nanotechnology being used in preparation of glass im Rome.

The Laureate was present in Hyderabad, India delivering a lecture on "The Strange Chemistry of Elemental Carbon: An opportunity for nano materials", at IICT.
