NaNoWriMo, Moolah, and Life Changing Decisions!

Mood: Productive
Craving: Cake
Cool Quote:  "When you were born,
you cried and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die,
the world cries and you rejoice." -Cherokee expression (For my friends' birthdays today ^_^)

Note: Read the bold if you just want to skim =)

So life has been crazy for me the past  few weeks. There has been a lot of change that I want to adapt to so I've been trying my best. One of the changes I succeeded in is developing a habit to write in my journal almost everyday. Woot, another milestone passed! It's the beginning of me learning to write more frequently. The problem is that I have three journals now: Xomba, my online private blog, and a spiral notebook. It's really taken my time off Xomba. I guess I feel less comfortable posting here because of knowing that whatever I post, it'll be here forever and anyone can read it. I'm really not use to that, but I guess it's just my insecurity talking.

Anyway, I've been trying my best to get through NaNoWriMo, a contest for people to write a 50,000 words novella from scratch within the month of November. That's approximately 1,667 words per day, which is about 3 pages. However, I've learned that I should not be thinking of it like 'I have to finish __ amount of words today!' I realized that this thinking causes more procrastination and burnout, because I'm making it sound more like work. I guess that's another change I've been working on. I'm changing my perspective in writing so it doesn't seem like work. I want to think: 'What can I write next?' instead of 'Oh, I only finished 546 words, 1121 more to go.' It hasn't been easy. I'm actually behind on my word count. AH! I got to stop thinking that. It's just kind of there in the back of my mind, but it's fading away more as I try to focus on what to write next.

Recently, I was also attending an interview, orientation and a few meetings for a job I was interested in. It provided benefits similar to online writing or freelancing. According to them, I could earn residual income from every person I train, unlimited upfront income per client, and it wouldn't even be necessary for me to work full time. I could work part time forever and my income wouldn't be affected (though you DO get your own office and more earning percentage from working in a full time position). This company also teaches you about financial services and how to run your own business if you ever wanted to. Their meetings blew my mind. I was really wondering if it's too good to be true.

Sadly, I can't focus on the training now, because my mind is already stressed from all the other changes in my life. I plan to focus on it next year when, hopefully, my life becomes stable and I have more control. If there's no catch to this company, I might make it my main job as I develop my writing. Otherwise, I think I'd just be happy with what I'll learn from the courses and training in general. The concept of jobs, taxes, and anything else that comes along with it is very new to me so I was surprised to find this opportunity. In that same respect, I don't want to end up making any big financial mistakes.

I hope I'll be able to finish the other Dream Job entries for the contest too. The one I submitted a few weeks ago only covers one point clearly. I want to make my other entries give a better picture of a, well, dream job. And be creative at the same time. I want to figure out the best way to portray it. I hope I can finish the entries while juggling NaNo writing the same day. I'm really not use to writing so much. *lol*

Well, other than developing my writing, learning more about the financial way of life, changing my thoughts and lifestyle, I think I'm growing at a good pace. This is only part of what's been going on. I hope I don't burn out!

Good luck with the novella!

Surrendering to the story is the big trick.

And What happens next? is about the most powerful question in writer world.

You go, girl!
