Navy Contract Awarded to EMC2 to Continue Work on Fusion Reactor
posted October 4, 2009 - 1:38pm
The award of 10 million dollars has come from the US Navy to the New Mexico based EMC2 company for it’s work on Polywell Fusion. The work started by Robert Bussard and his team has
been progressing well considering how the money has been trickling in. This infusion of cash will help the research achieve new milestones.
Reports on testing for the research model designated WB-8.0 must be delivered by March 2010. If that report is favorable they will develop WB-8.1 and deliver that report by March of 2011.
Within 2 years we may know the viability of a commercial, scalable fusion reactor. I’ll keep up and this and keep you informed so come visit my page often.

I missed the funding support note, tried to encourage Chu to
funnel more to inertial electrostatic confinement wiffleball approach, [which I think may eventually become more like a buckyball configuration] and queried the fellow from Los Alamos who has taken over the work that Bussard was not able to live to see completed. He responded that re examination of the last data Bussard, had was a statement that it WAS feasible and that there were no showstoppers in the work.
Where does your information come from? emc2.org? I'll look. Welcome aboard.
Thanks
