NBC Puts "Heroes" Spinoff On Hold; Writers Strike Causes Uncertainty

NBC is holding off on going forward with "Heroes: Origins," the proposed spinoff to the hit show "Heroes," and the uncertainty over the possibility of a writers strike was a factor in the decision.

Talks between the studios and the Writers Guild of America (WGA) broke down Wednesday night, and the current contract expired at 12:01 a.m. Thursday morning.

NBC was planning a six-episode spinoff, which it was set to air when "Heroes" went on hiatus.
