Negational VS Affirmational Racial Identity Affects Presidential Voting Preferences

Negational VS Affirmational Racial Identity Affects Presidential Voting Preferences

There have been many discussions in the media of how race will affect the 2008 presidential election and how it did affect the democratic primary. How minority groups think of themselves affects how they vote, according to the study linked below. Your image of yourself can be created using a positive or negative context. Here are a few examples (The below are simply examples and are in no way a message or a statement of my personal views.):

Affirmational Identity:

I am intelligent.

I am a Christian.

I am thin.

I am Latino.

Negational Identity:

I am not smart enough.

I am not a good Christian.

I am not thin enough.

I am not white enough.

The research document will examine how the self-proclaimed affirmational or negational identity of minority voters affected how they voted in the democratic primary. See how those same people, through discussions of how they thought of themselves, changed how they would have voted. This is not only a political study, but an examination of how our self-image affect what we do, say, and think.

English language

Why does English have so many odd and conflicting rules? I heard a series of radio reports saying that this was the result of the Norman conquest of England back in 1066. The Anglo-Saxon languages became supplemented by and mixed with the French that the Normans spoke. The series went on to describe some of the many words that have French roots, such as army (and armament, etc.)

Argh... duplicate

Sorry for the duplicate... when I tried to save the comment I got some cryptic message about memory allocation exceeded...

The "Race" Race

MythMan, cute joke with the "firmated." For those of you who don't know the root, it is "firm." To "affirm" is to be positively firmed. I suppose it is just one of those English quirks that we add the "ation" to get "affirmation." I really have issues with English spelling and grammar - Not lack of knowledge, just frustration with all the rules and noticeable lack of rules in many cases. My rant on English spelling, grammar, and punctuation can be found HERE. With respect, Lori of shawnandlori

I Am the Firmmator?

How can you make an affirmation if you're not first firmmated? I am nothing ... okay, now I can tell the politicians what they are. As much more than nothing you assume you are, so much more evil you become ... or not. I don't care. ---Buddha tells Uncle MythMan, "Flood the Open Eyes with the Truth, for as Long as You Exist!"
