Negative Calorie Fruits: How Fiber Affects the Diet

There are still a lot of arguments over negative calorie foods, and whether the negative calorie concept can actually work or not. While there are still arguments over the scientific basis of this diet, there is no denying one thing: the diet works and people lose weight. Fiber has a lot to do with this.

Raw vegetables and raw fruit contain a lot of fiber, which helps to aid digestion, make you feel full, and helps the body process waste more quickly and efficiently.

Digesting negative calorie fruits may not burn more calories than they provide, but these high fiber fruits and veggies are still great for weight loss because you don't have to worry about adding fats or large amounts of calories, and your body will more naturally process these foods and see healthy effects from the vitamins and fiber than from junk food.

Negative calorie foods are also healthy foods. Higher fiber foods have long been lauded as necessary parts of a good diet, and many of the different negative calorie fruits have fiber.

Another point to consider: it's hard (if not impossible) to become overweight on negative calorie foods. A carrot has roughly twenty calories. It would take 100 carrots to reach 2,000 calories. Oranges and apples each have only about 100 each.

Even if there isn't a negative calorie effect, eating these types of foods will almost certainly improve most people's diets, and the combination of vitamins, fiber, and lack of fat and junk calories will help almost any dieter in their quest for healthy weight loss.
