Neighbors are trying to ruin my life and career...
posted October 10, 2009 - 11:53amSome background info first... my husband and I purchased our home from my Grandparents in a quiet neighborhood where I grew up. At frist it seemed like the perfect place. I have know most of the neighbors for my entire life. Most are much older than we are ( we are in our mid 30's) and have watched me grow up here, however a new set of neighbors moved in and have reeked havoc ever since.
First it was our dogs, we have 4 dogs, 3 are pitt bull mixes and a Boston terrier. One day the oldest female pitt followed me our to my car which is parked in our driveway. The neighbor said she tried to attack him. I ended up in court, they found no grounds for the attack accusation but fined me $400 for her not being on a leash while near the street. My dogs have been through extensive training woth a private trainer because most people have a preset opinion of their breed. We have spent countless hours and more money than I'd care to remember to make them good ambassadors for their breed. We have never had any problems with taking them places and they are adored by children, including the neighbors kids who regularly came into my yard to play with them. we ended up putting up a chain link fence temporarily to keep the kids away from the dogs and are slowly replacing it with 6' high privacy fence. This should hae stopped them from prying, however they began moving lawn chairs onto the street to watch our training exercises in the lower part of our yard, armed with a camera. At one point they called the local Humane Officer telling them that we regularly chain our dogs outside with no food, water or shelter. I awoke to a note on the door from them one day. After contacting the officer I was told your neighbors don't like you and are trying to make you put your dogs down. They dismissed the allegations as the officer had searched our property and found no chains. She also talked to our other neighbors, 2 of which take our dogs out when we are at work, and found that we have never chained our dogs.
Next came the cats, (apparently these people don't like animals). Just this past week I had 2 Humane Officers at my home, the neighbors called again. The allwegations were that we have several cats locked in cages with overflowing litter boxes, our house is filled with animal feces and sick and dying animals. I can't blame the Humane Officers, they are just doing their jobs. They laughed when they entered our home. We have been asked to be a foster family for the Humane Society now as they are over crowded. The bad thing was that the Humane Officers saw the bad neighbors dog tied outside when they came to our house. When they looked at the dog it ws found to be very ill, possibly dying due to starvation and what they believe may be worms. They posted a warning to the neighbors on their door. When the husband found the notice he called the cops.
The cops in our area are different. Most of them grew up in the township and attended local schools here, as did the neighbor. They have a history of attending school with him, and have been seen drinking with him in local bars. My husband is not from the area and my family sent me to a different school for a better education. Neither of us drink because of our professions ( I am on call 24/7 in the medical field, he carries a CDL license). Needless to say the cop threatened my husband with arresting him for harrassment. When crazy neighbors wife got home she stood in the middle of the street screaming obscene remarks at me ( I was in my house and still able to hear her! as was the rest of the neighborhood!) I called the cops back and was told they can't do anything about it with out citing me as well?!? Friends of mine who are cops in other areas told me this in incorrect.
They scatter trash through our yard, have poked holes in my tires and most recently put a dead rat on the windshield of my car. I am at wits end... any advice???
