A Nerdy Kind of Affair

A Nerdy Kind of Affair

Now, don't think I'm behaving like a normal writer--I might be, but don't quote me as 'a normal writer' (without some evidence that I'm normal ... evidence I don't have)--but I LOVE answering your questions.

When I said 'submitting an incomplete article,' I'm sure you know I didn't mean to take the article 'the way you were writing it' (as a "report" or an "opinion" or etc.) and submit it 'exactly that way.'

Rather, take what's blocking you and ask a question to solve it (I don't study writer's blocks, so I don't know what they are ... maybe that could be the subject of another article, but you'd probably want to give it a more-attractive, less-obvious title than "This Is What 'Writer's Block' Is").

(And--in case you don't know--you submit questions on MyLot by clicking a link in the upper left-hand corner of any page---you'll see it if you look.)

I'm not sure what 'fraction of their take' we get. I've heard it's something-like 25% of the profit taken from 'our pages' there. (Our profiles, questions, & I don't know about tasks).

I am a member of mylot, but am not sure how submitting an incomplete articl there will help me out. Where would I submit it and why? Also what do you mean we get a fraction of the take from the advertising? How will it be profitable? Sorry for all the questions, you are just sooo knowledgable. :)

Whenever writer's block comes up, you might post the incomplete article as a question at MyLot, where we get a fraction of the take from the advertising.

Not only will it make your 'incomplete' work profitable, it'll also help you gain more perspectives!

Well, you definely understand how the system works, much better than me. Posting once a day that is great, i maybeget one a week, but I also write for 5 or 6 other sites, that I earn more off of. Deciding what to write is the hardest for, I have tons of ideas, I write them in a notebook, there is over 1000 ideas, but when I try to pick one i get writers block. It is so frustrating.
Thankyou for your help and the great info I really do appreciate it, I guess now it is time to write so more. Have a great day and happy writing to you.

Hey Jessica,

I'm much better at correspondence (like this)---my computer's fairly old, sorta slow ... and I'm using the hard-drive for something else (writing or storage) that would make chatting with me a lot more trouble than just responding when you have time (like this).

I don't know the exact rules of Google AdSense, but here's what I've figured out about it so far. Google's partnered with a company (I forget the name) that creates and monitors 'cookies' (little tracking-files) and puts them on anyone's machine that clicks one of our AdSense ads.

If one person clicks an exorbitant number of ads with one or another of our AdSense-ID's attached, the program starts reading that machine's clicks as more debts than -credits.

That means you have to have A LOT of separate individuals reading your articles ... how many? well, I get about $2.86 for every 1,000 visitors. (and I've only had 8,040 visitors since mid-January)

I won't get paid until I have about 32000 more visitors (if my click-through rate stays the same, and if I keep writing about mostly the same topics instead of sticking to the popular ones or the high-paying ones).

I think that's what I'll do; I'll post once-a-day here and (unless inspiration hits me to write something else) it'll be based on something from one of those links.

I'll spend the rest of the time working on articles in other places (probably connecting with different networks or focusing on amazon.com, which looks like it might turn profit).

Good Luck to You!

No, I haven't earned heavy money from this site ... only a hundred bucks or so every year or so.

I'm mostly here for the conversation; only publish an article every few days ... if I were smarter I would spend more time making friends on more social-networks than are hooked together here! lol

Why only one article every few days? I'll write an article about it! (Thanks for the suggestion!;-)))
