Neroli's Game Review - Sally's Quick Clips
posted October 28, 2009 - 2:48amNeroli's Opinion: Sally's Quick Clips switches from time managment to match 3 game play, where you make matches to earn resources and complete services for salon clients. Be aware of a steep incline in the difficulty level -- it's very easy for the first half of the game, and outrageously challenging for the last half of the game.

Game Review:
Sally's Quick Clips follows up where Sally's Spa and Sally's Salon left off, but unlike previous games, the game play has changed from time managment to match 3 style. You make matches of 3 or more of a kind in order to earn resources. These resources allow you to perform services on your customers, like coloring their hair, giving them a shampoo, and accessorizing. The styles are wacky – like, green hair on Grandma sort of wacky – but fun.
I am a big fan of the earlier Sally games, so I was a bit dissapointed by the shift in game play. I've noticed that fewer time mangament (dash) games have been released lately, so maybe this is a tactical decision by the developers.
That said, it's not a bad game. The graphics are cute and colorful, the pace is fast, and there's lots to do. The first half of the game is very easy, teaching you how to play. After that, it becomes hugely challenging, and the only way to win is to make smart use of your power ups. The balance in difficulty level could have been a bit more gradual, since many players might find the game too easy to start, and too hard to finish.
Sally's Quick Clips is a decent match 3 game if you want a challenge towards the second half of the game. The theme is slightly different than your usual jewel matching or city building match 3 game. It's very different from the earlier Sally games, though, so fans might want to play the demo first to see if they like the switch.
