Arcade Fire are in Post production of their new album Neon Bible. The Concept? Nightmares Win Butler, frontman, had in his childhood that are resonating with him today. The fear of a monster, an evil organization, or government coming after him. The famous writer james Baldwin said that religion is just another word for "safe." So when one gets scared they go to the Church. It is still unclear whether or not Butler believes in God himself but he didn't break character. Last year his wife and band member Regine bought a 19th century church outside Montreal and embarked on the quest of turning it into a recording studio to emrace his fears.

"My Body is a Cage," has raw vocals made possible by recording live off the floor. Arcade Fire are working hard to finess their sound as a weird indie band and keeping the vocals as unproduced as possible is one of their techniques. Recording in Budepest is another. Having an actual Pipe Organ also helps. For their song "Intervention" the musical production is amazing because of the brassy powerful sound of the Pipe organ. When Butler first heard Regine play it he cried. He called his engiineer to come have a listen. Moments later he was in tears. When the bass and the brass reverberates around the hall bouncing off every possible wall "the whole Church becomes an instrument," Butler told MOJO magazine, their very first interview since starting the album.

Expect bigger and greater things from them this album. It will include a full orchestra and 30 peice Russian choir. It also helps to have Blonde on Blonde and Highway 61 Revisited producer Bob Johnston on board as well. The album is due out this spring and they will be playing Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and Bonnaroo.

Great review

Very clever review of this band. I'd never heard of them so I went to check them out based on your Xombyte and You Tube has taken down the video. I'll find them another way.
