A New Focus in Scam Email|This Time, *You're* the One Who's Leaving the Inheritance

Here's the email I got today:

- Attention Beneficiary, My name is Mrs. Rose Morgan I'm the personal secretary to the newly appointed Minister of Finance (FMF), I'm directed to contact you and by the Ministry to urgently confirm from you if actually you know one Peter Woo who claimed to be your Business Associate/Partner in Africa.The said Mr. Peter Woo is now claiming to us that you are dead and that he will like to make a change in your payment information to his name as the new bonafide ben eficiary of the said fund.This development is coming now that the Ministry want to off-set all out-standing payments to all our legal foreign beneficiaries arround the world and your payment file was affected.The said Mr.Peter Lun Woo is claiming to us that you were dead and you have instructed him to make a change of ownership to these funds before your death,thereby providing this account information, INDUSTRIAL BANK OF KOREA. SEOUL, KOREA.MIA BRANCH BANK WIFT CODE; IBKOKRSE A/C N0;006-001922-01-014 A/C NAME:PETER LUN WOO) As the original account informations where the said approved sum should be remitted into.You are urgently requested to contact this office through this email address:(federal_mfng002@live.com )or phone Tel:234-1-8539399, as soon as you received this message so as to know the true position of things, to avoid making payment into a wrong beneficiary's bank account. Finally send your urgent response only to this email address: (federal_mfng002@live.com ) Best Regards. Mrs. Rose Morgan, Secretary for: Federal Ministery of Finance(FMF). I do not know any of the people mentioned above. I may have at some time in the past known some of the people, but I never signed anything.

That is one of the rules of time-travel: never sign anything—if you ever sign anything, time-travel is impossible.

My name was not mentioned anywhere in the email, so I do not feel obligated to respond; neither should you, if you receive an email-message like the one above.

Are they serious - first off how can a dead guy contact them? Anyway - scams are all out there and I have learned the hard way that there are some inherently evil people out there that take your trust and kindness as simple weakness. Never do business with people who claim to have large sums of $$$ available to you for simple work or tasks. Tsk tsk shame on them...

Those Nigerian 419 scammers are not an original bunch, are they? They seem to be following Klinger's excuses to Colonel Blake on M*A*S*H. The next thing you know, the scammers will claim that they got your sister pregnant and want to pay the dowry and marry her, but their family already arranged a marriage for them, so they will need your "help" to sneak the money out.
