The New G.I. Bill - Education Assistance for Today's Veterans

The Post-9/11 G.I. Bill, launched on August 1st, 20009, gives today's military veterans an opportunity to get an education to continue their lives after service. The Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) calls it the "largest investment in veterans’ education since World War II, covering the full cost of an undergraduate education at any public university or college in the country and many private schools for our nation's newest generation of veterans."

And for the first time, veterans can transfer their G.I. Bill education benefits to their spouse or children. To help veterans understand the rules and benefits of the new G.I. Bill, IAVA has created a Web site, www.NewGIBill.org, that spells out the requirements to take advantage of the program.

You'll find a calculator to help you gauge your benefits, news and updates on the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill, answers to frequently asked questions about the new G.I. Bill, and more. You'll also find information about the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.
