A source within New York Governor Eliot Spitzer's administration has told the New York Times that Spitzer has been involved in a prostitution ring. The source said that Spitzer made the admission to his senior aides.

Spitzer has cancelled his appointments for Monday and is expected to make a public statement that afternoon.

Federal officials arrested four people last week as part of an investigation into a high-class prostitution ring; it's not known if this is the operation Spitzer is alleged to be involved with.
